I've just fixed it in CVS.  If you have chance, please give it a try

$ cvs -z9 -d :pserver:anonymous ＠ cvs.m17n.org:/cvs/root co epg
$ cd epg && autoreconf -f -i

You will need to upgrade Gnus as well.
